Studio One – Dawn of a new era !!
The Need :
A Buildcard on Builder Studio comes up with free access to Builder platform (eg. Builder Now, Builder Meet, Builder Whiteboard, Builder Home). This is currently not commercialised and is offered as a free service to the customers. Since we have been working on improving the platform to have a wide array of features built in it, we need to start commercialising the platform so that we can recover some part of cost that we have invested in developing the platform products.
As for Builder Care, the revenue for Builder Care starts being recognised once the Buildcard is shipped out on production. However, we want to move to a model where we recognise Care revenue upon sale instead of at first production push, have earlier renewal of Subscription revenue which leads to easier billing and explanation for customers.
Apart from this, if we want our customers to be successful, we need to equip our platforms with capabilities like:
1. Analytics that display insights on how their apps are performing
2. Content like “How to guides” etc that they can adopt
3. Up-sell opportunities like recommending features that form the next set of roadmap for the customer
What is Studio One :
- Studio One is a bundled offering, where we offer Builder platform access as well as Builder Care as an annualized pack.
- Unlike Builder Care (its predecessor), Studio Subscription billing starts from day 1 after Buildcard kick-off.
- Since this is an annualized offering (payable monthly), this charge would continue to be billed until 12 months even after the Buildcard’s estimated duration is over.
- Studio One would be in an auto-renewal mode unless disabled by the customer through Builder Home platform.
